Security Guard

The Security Guard’s main responsibility is to provide a safety-conscious environment for staff, clients and visitors of Parkwood. The Security Guard will also control access to the Parkwood building, garage and parking lot.

Duties & Responsibilities

A successful candidate will be responsible for working with the Security Team in the following areas:

  • Enforce and follow Parkwood’s security rules and guidelines
  • Patrol and inspect building and grounds and ensure properly secured
  • Watch for and report irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents and suspicious activities
  • Perform building opening and/or closing procedures
  • Close and secure windows, doors, gates or other access points
  • Control access to the building, garage and parking lot
  • Stand post and verify all persons’ identity and conduct inquiries and surveillance
  • Maintain visitor log
  • Monitor and respond to fire and security alarms and closed-circuit television
  • Provide assistance to employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Restrain unwelcomed visitors and involve local law enforcement if necessary
  • Develop security policies and procedures
  • Assist as necessary with snow removal and picking up debris on property
  • Assist with conference room configuration and setup
  • Assist as necessary with package deliveries

Specific Work Experience & Background Desired

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Two years’ experience as a Security Guard
  • OPOTA certified
  • Qualified to carry a firearm in the City of Cleveland
  • Capable of passing annual firearm recertification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and sound judgment skills
  • Maintain physical fitness
  • Possess car, valid driver’s license and adequate insurance
  • Utilize personal cell phone and firearm
  • First Aid, CPR and AED training required
  • Comply with training and safety requirements
  • Appearance in duty uniform should be clean, neat and professional
